Let’s discuss running Windows Updates. Windows Updates are patches and system improvements to help secure your computer and make it run more efficiently. It is important to install Windows Updates soon after they become available. If you get too far behind on the Updates, the UT wireless network may not let you connect to the internet, because your computer is at-risk of being infected and infecting others.

You can run Windows Update at any time by going to the website
www.WindowsUpdate.com. This Microsoft website scans your computer and gives you the option to install missing updates.

You can also set your computer to download and install Updates automatically. To do this, go to the Start menu, go to the Control Panel, make sure that you are in Classic view, and double-click on the Automatic Updates icon. From here, you can configure Windows to download updates and install them automatically. This is usually the recommended setting. This will download and install the updates on a regularly scheduled basis.  You can also choose to "download updates for me but let me choose when to install them".  Once you have finished configuring Windows Updates, click OK.
